What is Kung Fu?

Kung Fu is an exercise that was invented in ancient China by mimicking the moves of animals.

While traveling to and from villages for commerce, Kung Fu practitioners learned to use the moves in their exercises to protect themselves from attackers. Thus, exercise became a mechanism for personal safety.

What is Martial Art?

Kung Fu became required practice for the Chinese military, which transitioned it into a “Martial Art”. The term “Martial Art” means military way. It was this transition that infused discipline into the practice of Kung Fu, Karate, Judo etc.

Is there a difference between Karate, Kung Fu, and Tae Kwon Do?

Yes! When the Chinese Monk’s temple was destroyed by their angry monarch, many of them escaped execution by traveling to the neighboring countries of Japan and Korea.

There, the residents, once again, modified the Kung Fu exercises; this time to conform to the differences in their physical structure.

Martial Arts and Children.

Initially Martial Arts were thought of as a warrior skill, reserved to be taught exclusively to soldiers, air men, and sailors to be used in life and death skirmishes.  Soon though, as a source of national pride the governments of China, Japan, and Korea began mandating the teaching of their respective styles to their youth in schools. When they did, they documented noticeable improvements in grades, and athletic performance due to improved concentration brought on by discipline. This in turn improved confidence and self-esteem!

Today, martial arts are used by parents throughout the world to increase their child’s ability to protect themselves, do better in school, get into the college of their choice, get a better job and more

How to sign your child up.

It is recommended that new applicants take an “Introductory Session” before signing up. An intro session is normally two classes that are designed to give kids a feel for whether or not they would be interested in continueing. At the same time the instructor will give your child a “needs analysis” in an attempt to help parents spot weak areas that their child may need to approve in.

In order to sign your child up for an intro, please call: 804-693-8888.
