Martial Arts History:

According to tradition, the martial arts were founded around 520 A.D. by Bodhidhara, a great buddha who brought Zen Buddhism from India to China.

Realizing that his fellow priests were losing their cardiovascular efficiency, flexibility, muscle tone, and mental acuity he organized them, and taught them how to exercise by mimicking the movements of five animals: the tiger, the leopard, the snake, the crane, and the dragon. He named his exercise Kung Fu.

Upon being attacked by thieves on their way to the market, the priest soon learned how to use their exercising moves to defend themselves.

The emperor of China, looking for a way to improve the health, defensive skills, and overall quality of his soldiers, incorporated the use of Kung Fu into his army thus the term martial art was born.

Introducing Body Karate: the scientific way to use martial arts to burn fat, tone muscles and get fit.

Body Karate is the brainchild of World Karate Champion Rod Batiste; it is a combination of martial arts moves and patterns done rhythmically with light weights. The weight provides just enough resistance to gently tone muscles while sculpting them into shape. The rhythm provides cadence that allows the body to melt fat away while simultaneously strengthening the heart. The pattern provides the foundation for the enhancement of spatial awareness, mental imagery, acuity, isometric fitness and more! Body Karate is a regular part of our program. It is added to the traditional class at mid-level.

You’re never too old to train in Traditional Martial Arts.
